Lavazza plans to make India its second biggest coffee market

Launching its new manufacturing facility in India, Lavazza, world leader in the coffee market, on Friday said it plans to develop India as its second largest coffee market in the world. The Italian firm, which has presence in over 90 countries, began work on its state-of-the-art manufacturing facili
ty at Sri City SEZ at Tada in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.

Coming up with an investment of 20 million Euros (Rs.125 crore), the facility will be ready by the year-end and will become fully operational by the middle of 2012.

Sri City to bid for solar projects

Sri City, south India’s largest private special economic zone (SEZ), has received its board’s approval to bid for solar-based power projects in six states. These are in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

“We will take up to 26 per cent in the each project,” said Ravindra Sannareddy, managing director of Sri City SEZ. The company has already acquired a stake in Sri Power, which is setting up a 2-Mega watt power plant in Andhra Pradesh, and is bidding for a project in Rajasthan
