Apache footware aims to double Adidas shoe production

Apache Footwear India, the manufacturer for Adidas shoes in India, aims to double production of shoes from its special economic zone (SEZ) here to 8 lakh pairs a month by 2014.

At present, about four lakh pair of shoes are produced every month from the SEZ, located in Mambattu village of Nellore district.

Lavazza plans to make India its second biggest coffee market

Launching its new manufacturing facility in India, Lavazza, world leader in the coffee market, on Friday said it plans to develop India as its second largest coffee market in the world. The Italian firm, which has presence in over 90 countries, began work on its state-of-the-art manufacturing facili
ty at Sri City SEZ at Tada in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.

Coming up with an investment of 20 million Euros (Rs.125 crore), the facility will be ready by the year-end and will become fully operational by the middle of 2012.

10 model schools to get facelift in Nellore

Action plan is being prepared to improve infrastructure in the model schools being established under the auspice of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) in 10 educationally backward mandals of Nellore district.

The schools are located at Seetharamapuram, Kondapuram, A.S.Peta, Duttalur, Ottur in Kavali, Kaligiri, Brahmanapalli in Marripadu, Venkatagiri, Tallampadu in D.V.Sathram and Tada.

Isro plans rocket spare parts units

Isro has sought 500 acres of land in the vicinity of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (Shar), Sriharikota, to setup rocket spare parts-based industries.

He said that Isro chairman Dr K. Radhakrishnan had asked the government to provide 500 acres either in Tada or Naidupeta, which are dotted with SEZs.

When asked whether Isro itself would setup the industries, he said that the proposed industries are likely to have private participation. He said that some cellular companies located in Chennai and Bangalore also planning to establish their units in Tada and Naidupeta. “They have been facing some inconveniences in Chennai airport and they want to make use of international airport coming up in Tirupati,” the MP maintained.

Pioneer Alloy to invest Rs 150 cr for capacity expansion

Chennai-based foundry Pioneer Alloy Castings Limited is planning to increase its capacity nearly three-fold to 120,000 tonnes per annum by 2011 with an investment of around Rs 150 crore.

Pioneer has acquired land at Tada in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh to set up its third high pressure unit for which it would invest around Rs 65 crore. The plant would have a capacity of 5,000 tonnes per month. The company already has a unit each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
