Collector K.Ramgopal on Tuesday held discussions with Sarvepalli MLA Adala Prabhakar Reddy and Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) officials in handing over land to the university at Kakuturu village in Venkatachalam mandal in the district.

In addition to the 62.84 acres land allotted for VSU in the village, the district administration will allot 30 more acres (abutting the old site) at Kakuturu, said the Collector. He told the VSU Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao and Registrar V. Narayana Reddy that the proposed site will be handed over to the university soon.

The dream of Nellore residents to study under the university within the district will be fulfilled from this year, with the government empowering the newly set up Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) with affiliating status.

Nearly, 80 Degree, PG, B.Ed, Law, Professional and Oriental colleges functioning under Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) for the past 50 years, would come under the purview of VSU.

The State government has allocated Rs.4.5 crore for Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in the Budget announced on Saturday, said the university Registrar V. Narayana Reddy.

Nagarjuna University Vice-Chancellor Y.R. Haragopal Reddy has been appointed as in charge vice-chancellor for VSU as Mr.C.R.Visweswara Rao (VSU VC) went on leave, said the registrar.
