The 4,000-mw ultra mega power project (UMPP) at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh will be the first to have a private transmission link. Government-owned Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is in the process of calling bids from private companies for the power evacuation project.

REC Transmission Projects Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, will appoint consultants to carry out the bidding process. The consultants would assist REC in preparation of report for laying the 765 kv transmission system associated with Krishnapatnam UMPP, an REC official said.
