The Andhra Pradesh government plans to allot a portion of the land recently reclaimed from Swraj Paul’s Caparo to met coke producer Gujarat NRE.

Gujarat NRE has decided to expand its presence to the eastern coast with an eye on the steel market and has zeroed in on Naidupet in Nellore district for operations. Given the location’s proximity to Chennai and availability of port facility in the form of Krishnapatnam port, Naidupet could well emerge as a key facility for the company.

The company is setting up a 1 million tonne met coke plant and a 60 mw waste heat power plant at the new facility.
