Andhra Pradesh CM agrees to request of the IFFCO KISAN SEZ

The Chief Minister reviewed with officials the progress of the first ever Kisan SEZ at Nellore. The Kisan SEZ is being set up to empower the Indian farmer by developing a Farmer-owned, farmer managed Multi-Product SEZ. IFFCO Kisan SEZ is an agri-business based special economic zone, established on the concept of Agroparks. IFFCO Kisan SEZ comes up in the State with many customs duty and sales tax concessions provided by the Government of India to promote economic activity in notified special economic zones. The Chief Minister was explained that that the Kisan SEZ comes with the state- of-the-art infrastructure facilities catering primarily to the food processing industry and housing global manufacturing majors.

The Project highlights include Investment in Infrastructure development -- Rs.660 crores; Investment in production and processing--Rs.6500 crores; Projected value of output/Annum (full scale) - Rs.4500 crores and Projected export per annum - Rs.2500 crores. It was informed that the formal approval was granted for a Multi-product SEZ and Notified on 19.04.2010. The Transformation process induced include changes towards better products; added value to production system & value chain; quality improvement of products; less or no post-harvest loss; adopting new transport and pre-processing techniques and empowerment of the present rural inhabitants to change their own lives.
