The Nellore Customs Division, which comes under Guntur Commissionerate, has achieved nearly 80 per cent of the target in getting customs revenue in Nellore and Prakasam districts in the last six months.

The Customs Department has set a target of Rs.366 crore for Customs Duty, Rs.138 crore Service Tax and Rs.36 crore Central Excise for 2010-11 and the officials got revenue to the tune of Rs.363 crore Customs Duty, Rs.50 crore Service Tax and about Rs.26.15 crore Central Excise by October 31.

The government is getting good revenue from import and exports of Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited (KPCL). The port management has been importing coal, fertilizers and crude edible oil from South Africa, Indonesia, Australia, Gulf, Russia and South East Asian countries.
